The designer Thomas Heatherwick has long associations with London – not only designing Boris Johnson’s 2015 Routemaster bus, but also the Olympic Cauldron, used at the opening and closing ceremonies that are being celebrated this week.
What he is less well known for are the pair of air vents known as “Angel Wings” (actually Paternoster Vents), between St Paul’s Cathedral and Stationers’ Hall (my livery company).
The sculpture was famously designed from a piece of paper that Heatherwick had absent mindedly folded, thrown down and realised could form a design, and on the website below there is a video of him making this, it has however been – perhaps deliberately – sped up so it is almost impossible to follow.

However I have spent some time practising and I THINK I have managed to do it – have a look and see what you think.
Watch the video also for a overall look.
