For fans of the steamy BBC series “Apple Tree Yard” this dark alley will be extremely familiar.
It’s the yard itself, where the hero Emily Watson and the mysterious Ben Chaplin enjoyed an extremely raunchy encounter against a wall back in 2017.
A bit of sleuthing with a screenshot off of iPlayer and it took me about 20 minutes to find it around the Cornhill part of the City, just south in fact of the Jamaica Wine House (you can see it through the alley).
The George and Vulture inn on the right is also a famous and extremely old site, mentioned frequently in Dickens, in particular it is where Mr Pickwick retires to nurse his wounds with his friends after losing a court case in the Guildhall against his old landlady and where he returns after his imprisonment for refusing to pay his fines.
