Last night we went to the Tutankhamun exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery.
Most reviews complain how crowded the show is, however we were – literally – the only people there.
The curse of the Mummy?
No, a private view.
We arrived dead on time and were wrongly ushered straight into the exhibition, instead of the buffet reception we were meant to be in.
By the time we realised where we should have gone, all that was left were some (very tasty) cheese straws, but to be honest the sacrifice was worth it!
I lived in Cairo from 1987-89 and visited the Egyptian museum many many times, but this show is a cut above the rather shabby and dusty cabinets at the time, absolutely astonishing.
